     Energy Department
     honors Bechtel
     
     
The U.S. Department of Energy presented its 1997 Mentor Protege Program of the Year Award to Bechtel National Inc.
      The DOE Mentor Protege Program provides historically under-utilized businesses with developmental assistance to enable them to perform as subcontractors at various DOE facilities.
      Bechtel Nevada is one of several companies that comprise Bechtel National Inc., specializing in environmental remediation, defense, space and nuclear fuel-cycle projects.

      Terra West Realty & Development has begun leasing space in the South Pointe professional park, an office complex at 205 Warm Springs Road and Gilespie Street.
      Separately, the company said it will break ground on the Charleston Plaza Office Complex in September. It is expected to be completed in June 1999.

      Nevada Asset Lenders/Nigro Associates has begun construction on a First Class Pawn & Jewelry shop at 4635 W. Flamingo Road.

      Key Performance International LLC has moved its headquarters to 2250 Corporate Circle Drive in Henderson. The company's headquarters had been on Desert Inn Road.

      The Orleans has hired Andy Lang as slot club director.

      Cheryl Miles has joined LGT Advertising as public relations coordinator.

      Steve Wagner has been named assistant manager of Silver State Bank's Valle Verde branch.

      Harrah's Entertainment Inc. has announced plans to convert the Hampton Inn Hotel at Harrah's Reno to the Harrah's brand name.
      Harrah's also announced plans to build a 204-room hotel at the riverboat casino it operates in Joliet, Ill.

      William Spivock has joined the real estate firm of Commercial Specialists, where he will specialize in investment brokerage.
      Spivock previously held a position at Encore Commercial.

      The Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants has named Charles Sorrells its 1998 outstanding committee chairman.
      W. Mark Stewart received the 1998 public service award.
