Bea Baumgardner stared at the long stretch of block wall rimming her back yard for three years. At one point, she planned to paint it the color of desert sand in an attempt to warm up the gray-tinged border. Then she saw an advertisement for a local mural company called Wallscapes and decided to turn the concrete wall into a man-made canvas of sorts.

Traveling with disabilities takes planning, but still can be fun

Dennis Ardine and his wife Ilene used to be frequent travelers. These days, though, they don't get out for vacations much, and, when they do, it takes more than packing a few bags and hopping into the car.
      Dennis Ardine developed a chronic spinal cord condition in 1991 and now experiences pain that can be immobilizing. "I can move about," he says, "but not for any period of time."
