Chaparral defeats Silverado in volleyball

Sam Marshall had 31 assists to lead Chaparral's volleyball team over host Silverado 15-11, 5-15, 15-11, 15-8 Thursday.
The Cowboys' Brian Payne had 11 kills and seven blocks, and teammate Matt Golightly had six kills. Joe Rowe had 28 assists and Steve Saggiomo 13 kills to lead Silverado.
At Desert Pines, Cliff Gutierrez had 10 kills and four blocks to lead Las Vegas past the Jaguars, 15-5, 15-4, 15-12. The Wildcats' Brett Lofgren had eight kills and two blocks, and teammate John Hansen had three aces and 36 assists.
At Green Valley, Scott Law, Matt Sugden and Niels Jensen each had six kills to lead the Gators past Vo-Tech, 15-1, 15-2, 15-3.
At Basic, Ben Erickson and Max Ramos had seven kills each to spark the Wolves past Foothill, 15-6, 15-4, 15-1. Chris Bunker and Kyle Clark had five kills each for the Falcons.
At Valley, Rod Lukes had nine kills and four blocks to lead Rancho past the Vikings, 15-6, 15-5, 15-5. The Rams' Daniel Danis had seven kills and three blocks, and teammate Shane Pipkins had seven kills and three blocks.
At Western, Dave Doxey had 19 assists, and Sean Doney and Robert Olds had five kills each to lead Durango past the Warriors, 15-3, 15-4, 15-11. Matt Robinson had 10 kills for Western.
At Cheyenne, Zach Taylor had 38 assists to lead Bonanza past the Desert Shields, 15-0, 15-3, 5-15, 15-9. Brett Call had 14 kills and Ben Anderson eight for the Bengals.
At Palo Verde, Mike Orton had 17 kills, and Parker Smith had 29 assists to lead the Panthers over Mojave, 15-8, 15-12, 15-7.
At Centennial, Ray Henrickson had 50 assists, and Mike Sagapoulo had 17 kills to lead Cimarron over the Bulldogs, 17-15, 15-17, 15-5, 15-6. Casey Evans had 22 kills for Centennial.
-- GOLF -- Corey Baird shot a 1-under-par 35 as Green Valley beat Foothill 188-201 at Revere. Nick Lorenz and Ryan Gomm had 37s for Green Valley. Ross Hobbs led Foothill with a 39.
At Angel Park, Mitch Carlson fired a 1-under 34 to lead Durango to a 181-240 victory over Clark. Dustin Nemrenz had a 35 and Chad Fosburg a 36 for Durango. Jon Taruc led Clark with a 36.
At Canyon Gate, Sabin Haas shot a 1-over 37 to lead Bonanza past Western, 200-253.
At Los Prados, Russell Ricciardelli recorded a par 36 to lead Palo Verde past Cheyenne, 186-232.
At Stallion Mountain, Cody Clonts carded a 3-over 39 to lead Silverado past Chaparral, 206-219.
At Desert Rose, Tyler Kurtz shot a 3-over 39 to lead Valley over Eldorado, 209-224.
At Desert Rose, Eurick O'Bryant shot a 36 to lead Las Vegas over Rancho 193-219 in a match shortened to eight holes because of dark- ness.
