  •      Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, will present a concert by acoustic violin and guitar duo Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill at 7:30 p.m. today.
Tickets are $7 general admission and $5 for seniors and students under 12. For more information, call 455-7340.
Irish fiddler Hayes and American guitarist Cahill have attracted international attention for taking traditional music to the edge of the genre. The duo's interpretations incorporate styles from the worlds of classical music, blues and jazz.
Born in Ireland and now residing in Seattle, Hayes plays in the slow, lyrical style of his native East County Clare. He grew up playing traditional music with his father, P.J. Hayes, leader of the Tulla Ceili Band.
Cahill is versed in classical music, blues and rock. A native of Chicago, he studied at the city's Music College before becoming an active member of the music scene. In addition to his work with Hayes, he has performed with such fiddlers as Liz Carrol, Eileen Ivers and Kevin Burke.
The performance is presented by the Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation.
