Events Louis Overstreet, author of "Black Steps in the Desert Sand," will discuss the history of blacks in Las Vegas at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. Best-selling author George Fraser will discuss his books and provide an overview of wealth-building opportunities available to the black community at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at the West Las Vegas Library Theater, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. The Mystery Reader's Group meets the third Thursday of each month at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd. The Sci-Fi Book Club meets the second Sunday of the month; the Mystery Book Club meets the second Tuesday of the month; the Adventure Book Club meets the third Friday of the month; and the Romance Book Club meets the third Sunday of the month at Borders bookstore, 2190 N. Rainbow Blvd. All groups meet at 7 p.m. The Fiction Group meets the second Tuesday of each month at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd. The Great Books Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Reader Services meeting room at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. "Kongi's Harvest" by Wole Soyinka will be discussed this Tuesday. Storytelling workshops for adults and young adults are offered at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Poetry in the Courtyard is presented at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. Rainbow Blvd. The Japanese Shigin Poetry Group meets at 2 p.m. the first Tuesday and 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of the month in the Readers Service meeting room at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. A writer's group meets at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd. The Friends of Southern Nevada Libraries is seeking donations of new or used books. Books may be donated to any library. Decatur Blvd., hosts a preschool story time at 11 a.m. Wednesdays; craft and story time at 2 p.m. Saturdays; story time with Ann at 2 p.m. Sundays; and crafts and cookies at 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Bookstar, 4730 Faircenter Parkway, hosts a children's story time at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Borders bookstore, 2190 N. Rainbow Blvd., hosts a children's story time at 12:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Craft time follows at 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sleepytime, Storytime for all ages is presented at 7 p.m. Mondays. The North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, offers family craft time at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays. Border's bookstore, 1445 W. Sunset Road, hosts a Sleepytime Storytime every Monday at 7 p.m. Individual libraries within the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District offer a variety of story times and special events for children of all ages throughout the year.
