  •      Las Vegas players looking for cash, above and beyond what comes out of the machines, have a good choice in February. As usual, we have more promotions to tell you about than space allows.
Also as usual, most of these promotions take place at the locals' casinos. However, one exception is the Venetian, which, through April, is offering players a chance to win $1 million in the "Treasures of Venice" promotion, a no-skill variation of the popular "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" TV show.
Every day three tickets are drawn from the drum. The three people selected will participate in a special three-minute slot tournament; the daily winner can accept $150 in cash, or move on to the million-dollar game round. To win the big prize, the player must open 14 treasure chests, with each chest assigned a cash value going from low to high. Chests one through nine are opened with the correct key, while chests 10 through 14 are opened by entering the correct key code into the keypad. Entries can be earned by signing up for the Venetian Players Club, spending a night at the Venetian, or by earning points on your card.
At the other end of the Strip, New York-New York is hosting "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Cash" daily slot tournaments. These tournaments award $1,000 in cash and prizes every day, including casino logo merchandise and vacation packages. All new Slot Exchange members receive one free entry. Additional entries are $10. Sessions begin at 10 a.m., with the final session at 5:50 p.m. for the top 14 daily scorers, plus two additional places drawn from that day's entries.
Arizona Charlie's players will divide $125,000 this month in the "Be My Valentine Giveaway." Anyone hitting a four-of-a-kind on any video poker machine or a 2,500-coin jackpot on reels or video keno will win, depending on denomination of the machine, between one and four Charlie Bucks. Every time you accumulate 10 Charlie Bucks, you can redeem them for a prize envelope containing cash or prizes, plus an entry into the following Sunday's drawing, when the casino will give away $1,000 at 4:30, 5:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. You must be present to win. (Note: Charlie Bucks also may be earned at table games, bingo and live poker.)
On Tuesdays through Feb. 22, eight lucky Silverton players will win $1,000 in cash. On Feb. 29, someone will drive home a brand new Jeep Cherokee. Stop by the Players Club for complete rules.
The Resort at Summerlin is giving away five $500 cash prizes on Feb. 11, 18 and 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. At 9 p.m., the casino will give away a brand new Infiniti G20. Beginning at 9 p.m. today, players can earn one to five tickets by hitting a natural blackjack, a four-of-a-kind on any video poker machine, or a 250-coin jackpot on reels or video slots. All winners must be present and have two minutes to claim their prizes.
February is "Royal Flush and Slots Super Jackpots" month at Jerry's Nugget. All video poker players will get cash bonuses for hitting a royal flush in either hearts or diamonds. Nickel players will get paid an extra $100, while quarter and dollar players will get an extra $500. Slot players hitting a top jackpot, as well as video keno players hitting a 10-spot, will also receive a bonus. Note: All multiplay machines will pay one maximum promotional jackpot per machine.
Bonus Points Schedule: Arizona Charlie's (Charliecard) -- triple points Tuesdays, double points Thursdays, 4x points Feb. 29; Barbary Coast -- triple points Feb. 14 and 21; Ellis Island (Passport Club) -- triple points Wednesdays, 5x points Fridays all day; Gold Coast -- triple points Feb. 14 and 21; Key Largo (Players Club) -- double points all day every day; Orleans (club Orleans) -- triple points Feb. 14 and 21; Railroad Pass (Players Junction) -- double points Wednesdays noon-midnight; Silverton (Players Club) -- 4x comp point Monday all day; Stratosphere (Players Card) -- double points every day 1-7 p.m., triple points 7-11 p.m.
