Cultural Arts Festival slated
Food, arts and crafts, and entertainment are on tap this weekend at the annual African-American Cultural Arts Festival to be held at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St.
In addition, the event, hosted by the Walker African-American Museum and Research Center and Nevada Bell, also will have gifts and health services, plus music, poetry and one-act plays.
The event will run 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is free.
Gameworks hosts competition
Gameworks will be the site Saturday of the Sega Dreamcast Championships.
The top four gamers will compete against each other on the "Sonic Adventure" game starting at 7 p.m. The champion will win $15,000.
The group 311 will perform at 8 p.m.
Admission to the event is $20.
Gameworks is at 3785 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Ryan, orchestra perform
Singer Roz Ryan and the 18-piece Nevada Jazz Orchestra will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.
The Nevada Jazz Orchestra, directed by Barry Ross, will accompany Ryan starting at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for seniors and students under 12, and $5 for Jazz Society members.
`Angels in America' continues
"Angels in America -- Millennium Approaches" continues in performance this weekend in the Judy Bayley Theatre at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
The curtain goes up at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $12. Discounts are available for students, seniors, military and disabled.
Collectibles show and sale
The Las Vegas Antique Bottles and Collectibles Club's annual collectibles show and sale will be held today and Saturday in the Pavilion at the Tropicana, 3801 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Hours will be noon-6 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
Admission is $15 today and $5 Saturday.
