Retired Col. Dee Harper shows off his 1953 photo in a book that recognizes F-86 Sabre pilots in the Korean War. Harper also flew in World War II, and his 1944 crash and rescue will be part of a documentary to be filmed next week at the crash site in central France.

RELIVING A WAR STORY
Nearly 56 years have passed since Dee Harper's P-38 crashed into a French field and a teen-age girl pulled the American pilot to safety.
There were flying twigs, clouds of dust and flames as Harper's plane fell from the sky on July 15, 1944, and landed in a vineyard owned by Jacqueline Briand's family.
