Court suspends LV attorney

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court has suspended a Las Vegas lawyer who apparently had sex with a client -- activity seen by the client's 3-year-old daughter and secretly videotaped by the attorney.

The circumstances resulted in attorney Kenneth L. Hall getting a gross misdemeanor conviction for child abuse and neglect, justices said, adding that the conviction warrants a temporary suspension.

Hall's case was turned over to the State Bar's Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board for further action.

The court also backed the board's recommendations for a three-month suspension for attorney Laurence Hecker for failing to maintain proper trust accounts records.

Also endorsed was a one-year probation for John H. Cotton, to coincide with disciplinary action in Arizona, where the attorney was accused of receiving double reimbursement in some cases.

The court also approved two years' probation and a 90-day suspension from practice of law for Brian M. Keith, to coincide with punishment in California. where Keith was accused of failing to place client settlement funds in a separate trust account and using part of the money to build a new office for himself.
