CARSON CITY -- Gov. Kenny Guinn appointed retired Las Vegas business owner Joanne Blystone on Tuesday to a four-year term on the Public Works Board.
"I have known Joanne for many years and I have complete confidence she will perform her duties on the Public Works Board with honesty and integrity," Guinn said. "She has a thorough knowledge of construction which will contribute greatly to the board."
Blystone is the former president of Blystone Equipment Co. in Las Vegas. Her father founded the company in 1951. The company was the original dealer in Las Vegas for Ford Tractors, J.I. Case Construction Equipment, Ingersoll Rand Construction Equipment and Champ Forklifts. They closed the company in 1954.
The Public Works Board consists of the director of the Department of Administration and six members appointed by the governor. The board coordinates and approves the design, construction and remodeling of state buildings, including university and community college buildings.
