Rickles appears at Stardust

Comedian Don Rickles will be joined by versatile songstress Christina Saffran Ashford for an engagement at the Stardust today through Sunday.

Rickles takes pride in fashioning every show into a totally original tour-de-force. He still stalks the stage like a panther, pouncing on members of his orchestra, the showroom staff and the audience.

His no-holds-barred style continues to be embraced because it is tempered by a sensitivity that enables him to know the limits of his particular approach to humor. His technique is based on his audiences' willingness to laugh at themselves.

Ashford has earned plaudits for her work in a wide range of musical milieus, including musical comedy, jazz and opera.

As a teenage prodigy she performed with the St. Louis Opera before moving to New York. On Broadway she distinguished herself in featured roles in hit musicals such as "Singin' in the Rain," "A Chorus Line," "Drood," "The Music Man" and "Woman of the Year."
