Forget the remote! Pass the mouse!

It appears these days that not everyone is reaching for a remote control and a television when they are ready to watch their favorite video programming. A lot of you are turning to your mouse, keyboard and computer screen.

My call for your favorite sites that serve up video brought a wide variety of offerings. Here's a handful of the best:

New Year's Eve Las Vegas (www.las-vegas-new-years-eve.com/)

Ted Newkirk enjoys reliving the fun on the Strip. The site features "both the full seven-minute fireworks show from last New Year's Eve as well as a five-minute exclusive of the revelers down on The Strip throughout the evening. If someone wants to know what they really missed, or show friends from other areas, this is it."

Bay Meadows race track

and Penn National Gaming

Horse racing enthusiast Jay Richards watches the ponies live online. He writes: "Horse racing also has made giant strides in the area of streaming video in the past couple of years. A number of tracks now offer free streaming video for live races.

"Bay Meadows (in suburban San Francisco), offers three speeds for video streaming: 56 kilobit, 100 kilobit and 300 kilobit. ... Another site, Penn National Gaming, offers video streaming for live races at two speeds (38-128K and 300K) from quite a few tracks, seven days a week, both day and night, from their site.

Eternal Word Television Network, Global Catholic Network (www.ewtn.com): In addition to video and audio on demand, the site features a religious gift shop, daily scripture and homily readings, and searchable libraries.

IFILM - The Internet Movie Guide (www.ifilm.com): An anonymous reader submitted this as "a wonderful streaming media site." Watch short films, movie trailers, commercials and viral videos.

TIP OF THE WEEK National Zoo PandaCams
Watch the pandas at the National Zoo live! You may have to wait your turn, however, as the streaming video feed can only handle 60 site visitors at a time. The site also features still cameras and an image archive.
