Choral Ensembles present free concert

The UNLV Choral Ensembles concert season opens with a free public performance at 7:30 p.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church, 111 N. Torrey Pines Road. The concert, conducted by David B. Weiller and Jocelyn K. Jensen, will feature the University Concert Singers, Chamber Chorale, Women's Chorus and Varsity Men's Glee Club.

Composers represented during the performance will include George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Michael Haydn, Knut Nystedt, Morten Lauridsen and UNLV student Michael Spadoni.

As part of the evening, audience members are invited to participate in a sing-a-long. For more information, call 895-3008.

Trombonists gather for UNLV concert

Trombonists from across the country will gather at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 on the Artemus Ham Hall stage at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for the 18th annual 76 Trombones +4 Concert.

This year's guest artists are Los Angeles jazz artist Bob McChesney, ballad specialist Art Sares, trombone choir specialist and new music soloist Don Lucas and UNLV alumna Richard Lopez.

The massed trombone choir will treat the audience to an afternoon of light classics and jazz standards. All proceeds support the Abe Note music scholarship fund at UNLV.

Advanced sale general admission tickets to the concert are $10; students, seniors and military are $7. All are currently on sale at UNLV's Performing Arts Center box office, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
