Fiestas team with local merchants for discounts

The Amigo Club (at Fiesta and Fiesta Henderson) has established a new Merchant Discount benefit program that both players and nonplayers will appreciate, especially this time of year. Now, just by showing their cards, Amigo Club members will receive discounts at more than 50 local merchants and vendors including apartment houses, real estate agencies, nanny services, gas stations, automotive repairs -- you name it. How do you get these discounts? Just stop by the booth, sign up for an Amigo Club card (if you have not done so already) and ask for a Merchant Discount Handbook.

The New Frontier has just kicked off a three-month promotion titled "Suite Money Madness" because they are giving away both suites and money. Through Dec. 24, all Player Club members receive one free entry for every 1,000 points ($1,000 coin-out) earned on their cards. Additional entries also can be obtained by joining the club, staying in the hotel, getting a suited blackjack, or for every $100 bet at the race book. The drawing will take place Dec. 28, and winners need not be present. First prize is $5,000 cash, three nights in a penthouse suite, a $200 flight certificate plus limo transportation. Second prize is $2,500 cash plus all the above goodies. There are eight other prizes including dinner for two at Gilley's and Margarita's.

Through the end of the year, Fitzgeralds is running an instant-winner scratch card promotion titled "Cash Blitz at the Fitz." Players can receive a scratch card by joining the club, winning a hand-paid jackpot, earning 50 points, redeeming 500 points or checking into the hotel. The top possible prize is $100,000, with other prizes including $1,000, $5,000, $50,000, logo merchandise and entries into nightly drawings. All nonwinning cards go into a second-chance drawing for hotel stays, music collectables and travel vouchers.

On Oct. 24, the Las Vegas Club, El Cortez and the Plaza will be offering free cake and champagne as well as triple slot points in honor of founder Jackie Gaughan's 82nd birthday. Happy birthday, Jackie!

In last week's column we mentioned that the MGM Grand has discontinued its Directors Club and is now a part of the MGM Mirage Players Club -- with all benefits transferring over to the new system. We erroneously stated that the popular Holiday Gift Shoppe program would not be carried over to the new club. This was not true. This program will continue uninterrupted through Nov. 17, and the program also will be in effect next year. We apologize for the error.
