Mack re-elected as NAC chairman
REVIEW-JOURNAL
Luther Mack was re-elected chairman of the Nevada Athletic Commission for a one-year term Monday by a 5-0 vote.
Mack, a 13-year veteran of the commission, has been chairman since Dr. Elias Ghanem died on Aug. 27, 2001.
Mack selected Dr. Tony Alamo as vice chairman Monday. Dr. Flip Homansky had been vice chairman for the past year.
In other action, the commission approved a request for a promoter's license by former referee Richard Steele. Steele said he plans to promote boxing cards at the Cannery, a new North Las Vegas casino, which would bankroll the cards.
Also approved for promoter's licenses were Patrick Ortiz of PSO Enterprises and Barry Meyer of Tuff-N-Uff promotional company.
