There's a music awards show in town tonight, but it has received little fanfare, perhaps because few mainstream crossover acts are scheduled to perform.
The fifth annual El Premio de la Gente Latin Music Fan Awards show is in Las Vegas for the first time, a move from Southern California.
The event starts at 8 p.m. at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. It won't air on TV until it arrives on Telemundo on Nov. 2.
Tickets are $35 to $200.
Performers include Jennifer Peña, who is nominated for new artist of the year and for female pop artist or group of the year.
Not scheduled to appear are such nominees as Enrique Iglesias.
Another nominee is Las Ketchup, which is up for female pop artist or group of the year. And the award for male pop artist or group of the year will be a battle among Juanes, Iglesias, Mana, Ricardo Arjona and Jaguares.
Nominees in all categories were picked because of their high album-sales numbers. Winners will have received the most votes from fans, submitting ballots by mail and online.
