PLAYER'S EDGE: Excalibur renews Monday Night Football promotion

The Excalibur is again running their popular "Monday Knight Madness" promotion in the poker room. Each week all poker players get a shot to pick the exact score of the Monday night game at the end of each quarter. If someone correctly guesses the score right, they win $250 and if not, the money is added to the next quarter's prize -- onward and upward (week to week if necessary) until someone hits an end-of-quarter's score on the nose. In case of a tie, the money is split evenly. This promotion applied to the Monday night games only and card room players must be present and playing to win.

You can "Shoot the Loot" beginning Monday through Oct. 19 at the Las Vegas Hilton. Every night five people are selected to compete in a two-minute slot tournament to determine how many rolls they will get on a set of three giant dice. The first-place winners will get five rolls of the dice; second place gets four rolls; third three rolls etc. Each die is six-sided with a corresponding dollar value and one "wild" side. If all three dice match, the contestant wins the dollar amount displayed on the dice, and if the contestant rolls three wilds, he gets $10,000. Players can earn entries in a variety of ways including hitting a $1,200-plus hand-paid slot jackpot, redeeming Connection Club points at the booth, playing at the tables, staying overnight at the Hilton or dining in the restaurants. All drawings are at 7 p.m. daily in the SpaceQuest Casino.

Thursday, the New Frontier is giving away $250 every hour all day long. Players can earn entries throughout the day at the slot club (which has no name) or at the machines, tables or in the race and sports book. Entries also can be earned in the hotel, restaurants or in the casino bars.

Two casinos have announced "on-going" Saturday night drawings -- in other words, as long as the events continue to draw crowds, the casinos will continue to draw names. Every Saturday at 8 p.m. the Plaza is giving away a 52-inch HDTV plus four $500 cash prizes. Players can earn entries playing the machines, live keno and bingo, plus everyone who competes in the daily slot tournament also earns a Saturday night chance. Plus, the Wild Wild West casino is continuing their popular $500 Saturday night drawings until further notice. Players can earn entries throughout the casino and the top price is $500. The casino also is running (until further notice) a free video poker tournament on Wednesdays and a free blackjack tournament on Thursdays. Both tournaments run from 3-8 p.m. and award $500 in cash and prizes.

Correction from last week: the gas-card promotion is happening downtown at the Gold Spike, not the Gold Strike (which is located in Jean). Sorry about that!
