EDITORIAL: Name a great bridge for a great Nevadan
He was born Donal O'Callaghan in 1929 in LaCrosse, Wis. But he adopted the name "Mike" as a young boxer.

He was serving in the Air Force, stationed in Alaska, when the Korean War broke out. His chances of seeing combat were slim. So he left officer candidate school to transfer to the Army as a private.

To the editor:

At least the Cleveland Clinic remembers the old saying that square pegs don't fit into round holes ("Clinic bows out," July 14). Despite misplaced political rationalizations and noncritical reporting by the media, reality has thankfully prevailed. Whether it was 25 acres or 18 acres (and the area varied with the presentations), putting a medical center in a congested, poorly accessed area would fly in the face of sound land-use planning.
