NEON THURSDAY: Transsexual contest begins

Tonight, "The World's Most Beautiful Transsexual Contest" kicks off a three-day stay at the Riviera.

Contestants have had to show birth certificates or doctor's verification to prove their eligibility.

Showtime is 8 p.m. tonight and Friday. Tickets cost $60.50 tonight and Friday at the hotel, 2901 Las Vegas Blvd. South. On Saturday, it's 7:30 p.m. for $88-$143. For more information, call 794-9433.

Also tonight, Las Vegas singer Franky Perez, who is promoting his major-label album, "Poor Man's Son," performs a free show at 9 p.m. tonight at Barbary Coast.
