NORM: Bad behavior in Chelios' history

NHL veteran Chris Chelios has been boorish before this weekend.

More proof that NHL veteran Chris Chelios has the IQ of a hockey puck.

On top of his boorish behavior at the Bellagio over the weekend, when he was thrown out of FIX for breaking dinner plates, comes this story:

Afternoon deejay Rik McNeil of Clear Channel's KOOL-FM, 93.1 said he was dining with Chelios and Los Angeles deejay icon Rick Dees at Morton's of Chicago here back in 2000.

"Chelios had been a guest on the Dees' program, and was dining with us. At some time during the evening, he went to the lobster tank and brought one of the poor little crustaceans to our table, and proceeded to torment it, smearing butter on it, and tapping its shell with his butter knife.

Chelios' dining companions sat there stunned when a waiter came to the table and the hockey tough-guy handed over the lobster, saying, "Would you get this thing out of here?"

"It was the most juvenile thing I've ever seen, and as you can imagine, I see a lot in radio," McNeil said.

A couple days later, Dees berated Chelios for being a "complete idiot and moron" on his syndicated show.

Rhyme and reason

Comedian Dennis Blair, who has been opening for George Carlin for years, has incorporated a Linda Ronstadt riff in his act.

A couple excerpts: "Desperado, that was the song I was singing when they started flinging round objects at me."

"Desperado made millions of dollars so I don't need Vegas and I don't need work/Desperado next time I won't be a darn fool/ I'll open a charm school with Whoopi Goldberg."

Carlin and Blair are at the MGM Grand through Aug. 4.
