Super Late Models race
highlights Bullring action
REVIEW-JOURNAL
One way to find the next Kurt or Kyle Busch might be to attend the Southern Nevada Dodge Dealers Showdown on Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Bullring.
The event will showcase the top drivers in the speedway's NASCAR Weekly Racing Series.
The night's feature on the three-eighths-mile paved oval will be the 100-lap Super Late Models race, which will include reigning track champion Chuck Trickle and the return of 1999 champ Chris Lowden.
Those veterans will be challenged by Bullring regulars, including 2002 champion Thane Alderman, who won last year's season finale.
A special Celebrity Showdown in Speed Trucks will feature the Fox race announcing team of Mike Joy, Jeff Hammond and Dick Breggrean. That race is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Also on the schedule are races for IMCA Modifieds (30 laps), Legends Cars (25 laps), Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks (50 laps) and Thunder Roadsters (25 laps).
Qualifying begins at 4:45 p.m., with racing to start about an hour later.

NOTES -- Las Vegan Alex Haase, 14, will drive part-time in the Speed Truck series, starting Saturday.
Haase is the reigning track champion in the Semi-Pro Legends Cars, which are scaled replicas of 1940s racing cars, powered by motorcycle engines. Haase won five races last year among 17 top-five finishes in 19 starts. ...
Qualify Motorsports, the Super Late Models team owned by Jerry Spilsbury, reached a deal to have Justin Martz drive the No. 60 entry, beginning with Saturday's race at the Bullring.
Martz, whose mother Judy Martz is the governor of Montana, also will compete regularly in the Southwest Series.
Mike Cofer and Spilsbury will drive the other Quality Motorsports entries at the Bullring.
