Series will address human resources
The continuing education division of the Community College of Southern Nevada will offer its human resources management series from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 21 through Dec. 14. at its Charleston campus, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd.
Classes in the 11-week series will cover finding and recruiting staff; measuring employee performance; effective rewards; recognition and retention strategies; discipline; dealing with difficult workers; and compensation and benefits, among other topics.
Individual classes cost $55 to $95 or $460 for the 11-week series with a $75 materials fee.

Banc of America Securities, a Wall Street investment bank, raised its rating on Wynn Resorts Ltd., a Las Vegas casino company, to
"buy" from "neutral."
Wynn Resorts, operated by developer Steve Wynn, is the company building the $2.7 billion Wynn Las Vegas megaresort on the Strip.

Tony Phillips and Mike Esparza bought AAA Lift of Las Vegas for an undisclosed price. The business, at 1414 Industrial Road, sells, rents and repairs forklifts.

Meritage Corp., a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based home builder, named Robb Beville president of its Las Vegas division.
Beville had served as the chief operating officer and executive vice president of the division, formally known as Perma-Bilt Homes. Meritage acquired Perma-Bilt in 2002.
Perma-Bilt founder Daniel Schwartz will continue as the chairman of Meritage Homes' Las Vegas operations.
