Local TV stations add news anchors

REVIEW-JOURNAL

Steve Wolford has been named weeknight co-anchor on KTNV-TV, Channel 13.

Wolford joins Cathy Ray on the anchor desk at 5, 6 and 6:30 p.m. and teams up with Tricia Kean weeknights at 11 p.m.

"Steve is an accomplished journalist and newsroom leader with a passion for winning. He loves Las Vegas. We believe his communications skills, drive and warmth will be the right fit with our Action News format," Channel 13 news director Craig Hume said.

Wolford has worked in the Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Cleveland, Orlando and West Palm Beach markets. He also reported from Tel-Aviv, Israel, during the Gulf War in 1991.

"I'm excited to be joining the Action News team," Wolford said. "Living and working in Las Vegas has been one of my goals and I look forward to providing the best possible newscasts for Action News viewers."

And at Fox network affiliate KVVU-TV, Channel 5, Andy Gobeil, Washington correspondent for the station's parent company, Meredith Broadcasting, was named morning anchor last week. He begins Monday, teaming up with co-anchor Heidi Hayes.

Gobeil's background includes a stint as the main anchor at WHNS-TV, Channel 21, a Fox affiliate in Greenville, S.C.
