Have a Blast
Three-day holiday weekend offers several chances to see fireworks around the valley

Las Vegas celebrates the Fourth of July with enough events to fit most tastes.
Perhaps the biggest is the annual Red White and Boom on Monday at Desert Breeze Park, 8275 Spring Mountain Road.
It features live music, a carnival, games, exhibitions, food and beverages and a 20-minute fireworks display.
Performers will be Social Distortion, Better Than Ezra, Bowling for Soup, Crossfade, Fatty Koo and Brian Evans.
The annual event, sponsored by Clark County Parks & Recreation, drew more than 30,000 people in 2004 and more are expected this year.
Admission is $12 at the gates, which open at 4 p.m., but children younger than 12 are admitted free. Advance tickets, available until Sunday, are $10.
Carry-in food or beverages and tall lawn chairs are not allowed. Blankets, beach chairs and one bottle of water are permitted. Parking is available at Desert Breeze Park or across Spring Mountain Road at the soccer complex.
j Fireworks will light up the sky Saturday night following the centennial concert featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Weezer at the Silver Bowl Sports Complex, 6800 E. Russell Road, next to Sam Boyd Stadium.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and the concert will start at approximately 6:30. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
j The Las Vegas Philharmonic's Star-Spangled Spectacular Concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, with the gates opening at 4:30 p.m. at Hills Park, 9002 Hillpointe Road. Music director Harold Weller will conduct the orchestra's program of patriotic tunes and marches and a centennial salute to Las Vegas, topped off by a fireworks display. Advance tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children 6-12, and children 5 and younger are admitted free. Tickets at the gate are $20 for adults, $15 for children 6-12 and free for younger children. Tickets for the VIP pavilion, which features a full buffet, wine and soft drinks, are $75. There will be open seating and food and drinks for sale.
j The Las Vegas 51s will have fireworks displays Saturday and Sunday following 7:05 p.m. games against the Portland Beavers. Tickets are $12 each night.
j The 57th annual Boulder City Damboree in downtown Boulder City kicks off Monday with the traditional 7 a.m. Rotary pancake breakfast in Bicentennial Park. The parade down Nevada Way begins at 9 a.m. and travels to Central Park at Fifth Street and Avenue B. After the parade, there will be food, drinks and games until 4 p.m. at Central Park. Entertainment in Central Park begins at 11:30 a.m. followed at 2 p.m. by contests and the traditional coin toss at the swimming pool at 4 p.m. The celebration continues from 6-11 p.m. at Veterans' Memorial Park. A fireworks show is slated to start at 9. Admission is free.
j The Plaza presents its first Vegas Freedom Frenzy on Saturday and Sunday at 1 Main St. A tribute to the men and women of the military, the event will feature a car show, chili cook-off, beer garden, live music and other activities. It will be outside the Plaza along the west corridor of the Fremont Street Experience in front of the Las Vegas Club and Golden Gate, and will culminate with a fireworks display Sunday at 8:45 p.m. Admission is free.
j A fireworks display and Independence Pool Party is scheduled for Sunday at the Stratosphere, 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The party starts at 7 p.m. with fireworks at 9. Tickets cost $75 and include food and entertainment. Attendees must be 21 or older.
j The Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road, will host a fireworks display at 9 p.m. Monday.
j North Las Vegas begins its Independence Day Jubilee at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with food vendors, children's activities, music by The Fab and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. at James Seastrand Park, 6330 Camino Eldorado. Admission is free.
j Morrell Park, 500 Harris St., in Henderson, will feature carnival games and live music Monday from 5-10 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
j The Pete Contino Band performs from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Anthem Hills Park, 2256 N. Reunion Drive in Henderson. Fireworks will follow the free concert. A shuttle will be available from Coronado High School to Anthem Hills from 5-10:30 p.m.
j Activities Monday at MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, 30 Strada Di Villaggio, include a barbecue from 4-10 p.m., live jazz at the events plaza from 7-10 p.m., fireworks at approximately 9 p.m. and a party in Casino MonteLago after 9 p.m. Admission is free.
j The 15th annual Rockets Over the River fireworks event begins at dusk Saturday and Monday in Laughlin.
j The Avi Resort & Casino in Laughlin will shoot off fireworks at dusk Sunday.
j Buffalo Bill's in Primm celebrates the holiday with a free fireworks show Monday at sunset.
