NEON SATURDAY: Packed parade in downtown
Regardless of who turns out to watch the Helldorado Days Parade, downtown will be crowded just with the people in it: More than 200 entries will march up Fourth Street as part of the Centennial Celebration.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. and goes from Gass Avenue north to Ogden Avenue.
Tonight, the Fremont Street Experience will hop with free concerts by Pam Tillis and Chubby Checker, both at 9 p.m.
If you would prefer a more laid-back evening, warm-voiced, country singer-songwriter Kathy Mattea is just the ticket for a balmy night. Along with her own hits ("Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses"), she's had a lot of her songs recorded by other singers.
Tickets are $10-$25 for her 8 p.m. concert at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Call 267-4849.
