Foothill coach Marty Redmond doesn't ask his players for perfection, but he does expect them to win.

The top-ranked Falcons were far from perfect on Friday, but they fulfilled their coach's expectation by managing a 41-38 road victory over Coronado.

D'Angelo Jones rushed 29 times for 153 yards and four touchdowns to lead Foothill, but the Falcons' defense gave up 537 yards to make it interesting.

"We had a little confusion on our end in the first half," said Redmond, whose squad allowed Cougars quarterback Brady McManus to complete 23 of 40 passes for 476 yards. "We have some things we've got to work on. But we've put ourselves in a hole before and we've always been able to battle back."

Foothill (7-0, 3-0 Southeast) never trailed after taking a 14-0 lead on touchdowns by Jones and Zacarias Espejo, but Coronado (3-4, 2-2) got first-half TDs from Tysson Poots, McManus and Jacob Bodine to make the score 21-18 at halftime.

Though the Falcons' defense struggled against the pass throughout the night, they managed to squelch two Coronado drives inside their 5-yard line -- one in the first half and one in the second. Foothill also intercepted McManus three times in the second half.

Jones' 2-yard and 14-yard runs in the second half gave Foothill a 33-24 lead, and Danny Osorio fell on a Cougars' fumble in the end zone late in the fourth quarter to make it 41-24.

The Falcons allowed two late scores, the last on a 20-yard reception by Eric Nimmer with 2 seconds left to play.

Poots caught 11 passes for 220 yards to help Coronado, and Nimmer logged 140 yards on 7 receptions.

n Centennial 21, Cimarron-Memorial 14 -- At Centennial, junior wideout Austin Hill caught a 38-yard TD pass from Jared Noa with 37 seconds remaining to lift the Bulldogs (5-2, 1-1 Northwest) to the upset over fourth-ranked Cimarron (6-1, 1-1).

The Bulldogs started their winning march after Cimarron's Justin Naya-Valencia scored on a 41-yard run tying the game at 14-14 with 4:16 remaining in the game.

Aided by a key fourth-down offsides penalty, Centennial moved the ball to the Cimarron 33 in seven plays.

Noa, who completed 20 of 33 passes for 286 yards, threw two straight incompletions and it appeared the game was going into overtime.

After a delay of game infraction, Noa made his best throw of the night, a perfect strike to a streaking Hill, who had ran past two Spartan defenders.

"The game was on the line, and I had to make a play," said Hill, who caught 10 passes for 163 yards. "It was now or never for us, so we had to step things up. My legs were cramping most of the game, but I knew I couldn't come out of the game."

Naya-Valencia returned the ensuing kickoff 35 yards to the Spartan 45, and Cimarron had one final chance. Quarterback Davion Mauldin had a 13-yard run, then completed a 10-yard pass to Eric Brinkley, and the Spartans moved to the Bulldog 32. However, Mauldin's final two shots to the end zone fell incomplete, and the Bulldogs had pulled off the stunner.

Noa threw three touchdowns, two in the second quarter to Zack McCoy, as the Bulldogs took a 14-0 advantage at halftime. Mauldin scored on a two-yard run late in the third, as Cimarron got within seven.

n Green Valley 13, Basic 9 -- At Green Valley, the Gators rolled up 233 yards on the ground, but needed some trickery from the passing game to defeat the Wolves (3-4, 1-2 Southeast).

Green Valley (3-4, 1-2 Southeast Division) got 135 yards rushing from Brian Wiltshire and 107 more from Jeff Garcia, but several key turnovers and a Basic goal-line stand prevented the Gators from getting any points out of their ground game.

The game-winning score was a 35-yard pass from Aaron Bagsby to Xavier Kimbrough late in the third quarter. Bagsby took an end-around from quarterback Robert Reynolds and found a streaking Kimbrough down the right sideline for the only score of the second half.

Green Valley's first touchdown also came unconventionally. After a 24-yard field goal by L.J. Marquez gave the Wolves the lead, the Gators drove and set up for a 26-yard kick. Instead, holder Kalin Beal pitched the ball to kicker Wayne Hope, who rolled left and found Cody Aughney wide open in the end zone to give Green Valley a 6-3 lead.

Benjamin Jacobs picked off a Del Sol pass on the ensuing drive, and Villa went on to score on another 1-yard plunge. Villa had 51 yards rushing, all in the second half. Andrew Deleon rushed for 77 yards and Peter Hyun 70 for the Skyhawks.

Del Sol (2-5, 0-3) scored both of its touchdowns in a 16-second span in the third quarter. After Tim Johnson's 26-yard touchdown run, Matt Burge recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. One play later, Ryan Klorman caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Makridis.

n Durango 21, Clark 6-- At Clark, the defensive play of Victor Matthews sparked the Trailblazers (3-4, 2-2 Southwest) to the victory over the Chargers (0-7, 0-4 Southwest).

Trailing 7-6 with a little over five minutes left in the fourth quarter, Clark drove into Durango territory, only to be forced to punt thanks to one of Matthews' three sacks.

The Trailblazers' Louis Kimble then turned the change of possession into points, rushing for one of his two touchdowns to make it 14-6.

With less than three minutes to go, the Chargers' last promising drive ended when Matthews recovered a fumble.

Bonanza (0-6, 0-3) struck early in the game when senior quarterback Aaron Holly hooked up with senior back Brian Ladeira for a 69-yard touchdown strike on the Bengals' first play of the game. Bonanza also got a touchdown on a short quarterback keeper by Holly and a field goal from senior kicker Ben Jaekle, both in the second quarter. Holly threw for 119 yards.

However, it was not enough to overcome Blankenship's efforts. The junior set up his own 2-yard touchdown in the third quarter with a 34-yard run, and bulldozed the Lions close enough for a short run by senior quarterback Jake Whittaker in the first.

-- Jeff Hoskin

n Bishop Gorman 76, Spring Valley 6 -- At Spring Valley, Gorman scored on its first play from scrimmage when C.J. Sedoris connected with DeMarco Murray on a 65-yard TD pass, and the third-ranked Gaels (5-1, 3-0 Southwest) rolled over the Grizzlies (3-4, 2-2).

Murray scored four touchdowns and had 197 total yards to lead the Gaels.

Sedoris finished with 229 passing yards and four touchdowns.
