A 2-year-old boy found wandering near a Las Vegas intersection Saturday has been placed in the temporary custody of a relative.
But the boy, Amareon Madden, may eventually be returned to his mother when she is released from jail, officials said.

Clark County Department of Family Services officials have turned over the healthy toddler to Robert Lee, 26, of Las Vegas. Lee is the nephew of the boy's mother, Angela Madden.
Madden is in custody at the Clark County Detention Center, serving a 30-day sentence for a parole violation. The mother, who was arrested and pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution earlier this year, has said she was behind bars when the boy was left near Pecos Road and Washington Street.
"He's doing good," Lee said of Amareon, adding that he will care for the boy until his mother proves to a judge that she is fit to be reunited with him. "I'd like to see him go back with her (his mother). But if she can't handle her responsibilities, then yes, we'll take permanent custody of him."
Family Services officials declined to comment.
Lee said that when Madden is released from jail next month, she might be able to take classes and demonstrate to a judge that she can raise the boy.
