The fourth-ranked Wildcats dominated all facets of the game Friday, rolling to a 29-12 road victory over the third-ranked Desert Shields.
Jamal Lomax rushed 21 times for 137 yards and three touchdowns to lead Las Vegas, which scored three minutes into the game and never trailed.
Even so, Faircloth had concerns.
"We still have a lot of work to do," said Faircloth, whose team fumbled three times and committed numerous penalties. "We have high expectations for our players, and we feel we can play better."
The Wildcats (2-1) looked strong in compiling 338 yards -- 222 on the ground, 116 in the air -- and they had the game in hand late in the first half when Lomax scored on a 59-yard sprint to give them a 16-0 lead.
Cheyenne (2-1), held to 156 yards, took advantage of big plays and made it 16-6 with a 28-yard run by Quinton Carter with 5:24 left in the first half.
But Lomax's third touchdown of the night, a 1-yard plunge, made it 22-6 with 4:46 left in the third quarter.
"Jamal is a great running back," Faircloth said. "Cheyenne has a very good defense. If you can get 100 yards against Cheyenne, you're having a good night."
Quarterback O'Ryan Bradley, who completed 10 of 20 passes for 116 yards, extended the lead to 29-6 with a 16-yard run early in the fourth, and the Wildcats began working the clock.
The Desert Shields' D.J. Campbell broke loose for a 56-yard scoring run late in the game.
Faircloth, whose team upset then-No. 1 Bishop Gorman last week, said he has never considered Las Vegas an underdog.
"We don't pay a lot of attention to media polls or coaches polls," he said. "We never even talk about it. We just talk about getting better every week."
