In a battle between two of the top running backs in town, Jamal Lomax carried the ball 32 times for 229 yards and two touchdowns to lead Las Vegas.
His Mustangs counterpart, Eric Jordan, was held to 98 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown.
"I think we've always been the team to beat," said Lomax, whose team also has defeated Bishop Gorman and Cheyenne this season. "This was a huge game for us. We finally got it over with, and I'm satisfied with the outcome."
Lomax capped the Wildcats' opening drive with a 12-yard touchdown run and followed with a 6-yard scoring run midway through the second quarter.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, compiled 219 yards in the first half while holding the Mustangs to 16.
Even so, three first-half Wildcats drives fizzled deep in Shadow Ridge territory, holding the score to 14-0 at halftime.
"We're our own worst enemy," said Las Vegas coach Chris Faircloth, whose squad committed numerous miscues in the half. "We killed ourselves with penalties. We've got to get some things ironed out before we can become a real force."
But the Wildcats (3-1) made it 20-0 early in the second half, scoring on a 61-yard pass from O'Ryan Bradley to Jovan Massey.
Shadow Ridge (2-2) finally got on the board when quarterback William Pope scored on a keeper with 6:37 left in the third quarter.
Former Wildcat Jordan, who was held to 12 yards on seven carries in the first half, broke his only big run of the night in the fourth, a 66-yard sprint that set up his 5-yard scoring run to make it 20-12 with 7:38 left to play.
Faircloth, who helped coach Jordan for three years, said his team's familiarity with the running back was a key to the win.
"I think it helped us a lot," he said. "We understood where he runs and how he runs."
Bradley, who competed 8 of 17 passes for 171 yards and a TD, sealed the Las Vegas victory by scoring on a 7-yard keeper with 5:41 left. Teammate Akeem Anifowoshe caught three passes for 82 yards.

Elliot led the Pioneers with 109 yards on 18 carries, and Dennis Parker had touchdown runs of 1 yard in regulation, and 2 yards.

Canyon Springs scored first in overtime on Parker's run, but Tialavea's second touchdown, a 4-yard run, sent the game to the second overtime.
Tialavea led the Cowboys with 65 yards on 14 carries.
Juan Ramirez caught a 10-yard pass from Alex Wooldridge on the first play of the second overtime, but Tialavea's conversion run over the left side was stopped a foot short.
