John Wayne Bobbitt< br> Man who gained fame in unusual way faces domestic abuse charges

John Wayne Bobbitt will stand trial on domestic violence charges Nov. 15, a Las Vegas Municipal Court judge ruled Thursday.

Bobbitt, who made national headlines in 1993 when his former wife sliced off his penis, is accused of pushing his current wife, Joanne Ferrell to the ground last week.

Bobbitt has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has witnesses who will testify in court that Ferrell is lying, said Bobbitt's attorney, Barry Levinson.

Bobbitt filed for divorce from Ferrell on Monday, Levinson said. Bobbitt is free on bail.

A Municipal Court judge acquitted Bobbitt of domestic violence last year, but Bobbitt pleaded guilty to the same charge in 2002.
