For the second time in this year's National Finals Rodeo, only one bull rider completed his eight-second ride, and that produced a $51,683 payday for Bobby Welsh of Gillette, Wyo. He scored 85 on Western Hauler to top the 12-man field.

"I never dreamed I'd make $50,000 on one bull ride," he said. "Not a bad eight seconds, not at all. Now I can go buy Christmas presents (for my three children) and not worry about it."
B.J. Schumacher, who clinched the world championship Thursday, was the only one to ride in the second go-round, on Dec. 1.
ALL-AROUND -- Trevor Brazile of Decatur, Texas, who clinched his fourth world title in five years on Thursday night, added to his total by placing fifth in calf roping to earn $4,134 and increase his total to an all-time record of $322,946.
BAREBACK RIDING -- Cimmaron Gerke of Brighton, Colo., scored 83.5 on Moulon Rouge to win his first go-round of the rodeo.
"It's great. I usually have a lot more won by now ... but things have been pulling on me mentally and physically. I finally got them straightened out. It's a lot better now."
Will Lowe clinched his second consecutive world title and third in four years on Thursday night. He placed fifth Friday and has now placed in eight of nine rounds.
STEER WRESTLING -- Shawn Greenfield of Lakeview, Ore., turfed his steer in 3.4 seconds to win. It moved him up to third in the world standings, but he's missed two steers and is ninth in the NFR aggregate standings.
"I just have to go after the go-rounds now, if I have any chance of winning the world," he said.
That's a long shot, as money leader Luke Branquinho of Los Alamos, Calif., and Dean Gorsuch, No. 2 in money and first in aggregate, are likely to fight it out tonight for the world title.
TEAM ROPING -- Joe Beaver of Huntsville, Texas, and Cole Bigbee of Stephenville, Texas, caught their steer in 4.1 seconds to tie David Key of Caldwell, Texas, and Kory Koontz of Sudan, Texas, for first.
Logandale brothers Jason and Randon Adams placed fifth to win $4,134 for their only paycheck of the Finals other than when they won the fourth go-round.
SADDLE BRONC RIDING -- Chad Ferley of Oelrichs, S.D., clinched the world title by tying for first with Bradley Harter of Weatherford, Texas, as both riders scored 84 points.
Ferley rode Painted Feather, and Harter was aboard Sun Dance.
Ferley has won two go-rounds and split first in two others; it was Harter's first win of the event.
Ferley is the money leader with $194,666 and is second in the aggregate behind J.J. Elshere of Quinn, S.D., who is not in contention for the world title.
Cody DeMoss is second in season money but was bucked off while being hampered by a back injury and won't ride tonight, which clinched the title for Ferley.
CALF ROPING -- Clint Robinson of Spanish Fork, Utah, roped his calf in 7.3 seconds to win the round after tying for first the night before.
Cody Ohl clinched his fifth calf roping world title on Thursday.
Matt Shiozawa, a Las Vegas resident and native of Chubbock, Idaho, placed ninth and out of the money.
BARREL RACING -- Denise Adams of Lufkin, Texas, won for the second consecutive night with a time of 13.86 seconds on Frosty, a 6-year-old mare.
She rode another horse to set the arena record on Thursday with a run of 13.52.
The championship is likely to come down to either money leader Marry Burger of Pauls Valley, Okla., who placed fifth in the go-round, or aggregate leader Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, Texas.
