NORM: Prince to play Super Bowl 2007

Prince will headline halftime show.

Joe Montana has dinner at N9ne.

Flavor Flav parties at Studio 54.

The now-split Pamela Anderson, above, and Kid Rock, below, will host rival New Year's Eve parties this year. She's been confirmed for the Tao countdown, and he'll be at Jet.

The NFL made it official Sunday: Prince is headlining at the Super Bowl on Feb. 4 in Miami.

But the image-conscious league made it clear that it doesn't want any risqué business in front of a worldwide audience, á la the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction."

"We've had discussions with Prince and his management, and they understand the spotlight that performing on the world's largest stage provides," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Miami Herald.

"We recognize that we are held to a higher standard in everything we do, and we want to put on a show that is suitable for a mass audience.''

Prince, who recently opened his 3121 club at the Rio, is on a career rebound. It was announced Thursday that his 2006 release, "3121," received five Grammy nominations.

THE SCENE AND HEARD

Also finalized: Pamela Anderson's appearance as the countdown host at the New Year's Eve party at Tao (The Venetian), which was first reported here a week ago. We hear Tao's staff will be wearing Team Pamela T-shirts to support her in the nasty split with Kid Rock, who will be appearing at Jet nightclub (The Mirage) as a celebrity deejay and New Year's Eve party host. There are rumblings that Anderson is back with ex-husband Tommy Lee. ...

Former Las Vegas newsman and publicist Tim Chanaud died last week after a brief illness. After joining the Las Vegas Sun in the mid-1980s, Chanaud had high-level jobs with R&R Advertising, Siegfried & Roy and the Las Vegas Hilton. He moved to the San Francisco area in 1998. ...

Correction: Sunday's mention of All-Star reliever Rich "Goose" Gossage referred to him as a Hall of Famer. That was my prejudice showing: With 310 saves and 124 wins, he's a Hall of Famer in my book, but not enough voters agree.
