Tanya Tucker's plan to surprise old flame Glen Campbell went up in smoke over the weekend.

Backstage spies say Tucker wanted to show up on stage waving a white flag during Campbell's show at The Orleans.

Tucker, whose stormy, drug-fueled relationship with Campbell kept the tabloids in business back in the 1980s, didn't get to call a very public truce.

Word is she was turned down two nights in a row.

Campbell, who turns 71 in March, had enough on his hands. He told the audience he was limping around the stage after being injured when his golf cart turned over.

REVOLUTION NEAR

Workers are putting in some hard days (and nights) to have "Revolution," the new Beatles-Cirque du Soleil nightclub at The Mirage, ready for next week's opening.

Take two steps inside Cirque's first nightclub venture, and there's an instant flashback of the 1960s psychedelic experience.

The ceiling features designer Jean-Francois Bouchard's artistic interpretation of "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds." Some 60,000 clear-glass squares called dichroic crystals create a constant light show. The 7,000-square-foot space borrows something old and something cutting-edge new.

At the entrance to the main room, there's a lyrics wall Bouchard came up with after seeing the graffiti lovingly scribbled outside Abbey Road, the famed London studio.

The new: Seven tables will feature new projection imagery on drinking glasses, and words drawn on the table will be projected on the walls.

The $11 million project opens to the public on Dec. 22.

THE SCENE AND HEARD

A groundbreaking ceremony is set today for KTNV-TV, Channel 13's new 32,000-square-foot broadcast center, next to the existing facility. On hand will be the board of directors for Journal Communications and the senior management team, including CEO Steven Smith. The new digital facility will allow Channel 13 to broadcast in the latest high-definition technology. The plan is to be in the new building by December 2007. ...

Las Vegas comedian David Brenner has a challenging schedule for New Year's week. He's booked in the main showroom at The Orleans for Dec. 29, 30 and 31. But getting to Las Vegas might be iffy. He has got a Dec. 28 concert at Wheeler Opera House in Aspen. His backup plans include "pack mules, snow shoes and snowmobiles" to get to Aspen's airport, he said. ...

UNLV head basketball coach Lon Kruger and son Kevin, the Rebels' spark plug guard, on Monday dropping off 1,000 tickets to the Jan. 3 UNLV-Utah game for the KLUC-FM, 98.5, toy drive. The tickets will go to local kids. ... Trevor Brazile, celebrating his record-breaking All-Around title on Sunday at Stack restaurant in The Mirage. Brazile won a record $322,947 this season, including his winnings in the just-completed National Finals Rodeo.
