On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays in January, the Palms will give away money in its "$125,000 Home Makeover" drawings. We don't know where the "Home Makeover" came from; all drawings are cash. On Mondays and Wednesdays, 15 players will win a total of $7,500. They will have 24 hours to collect or the money rolls over to the next drawing. On Saturdays, 10 players will win $1,000 each in a must-be-there-to-win drawing, and some winners will also win a chance to draw for the $25,000 main prize on Jan. 28. "Jackie's January Golden Giveaway" runs all this month at the El Cortez. Players hitting a $200 jackpot on slots or a $300 jackpot on video poker will receive a prize ticket that can be immediately traded for a $10 gasoline card or saved for one of the many pieces of jewelry available for five, 10 or 15 tickets. Jackpot winners also will receive an entry into the next Saturday night's drawing for a 52-inch HDTV and four $500 prizes.

Every Sunday evening in January, Santa Fe Station will give away a 42-inch plasma HDTV via a pit-only drawing. Tickets can be earned all week, so check the rules to see how to earn them at your favorite table game. Drawings are at 6:15 p.m., and you must be present to win.

Although many players are disappointed at the recent elimination of the points-for-gas program at Fiesta, the casino has begun a $33,000 "Gas Point Challenge" to help ease the pain. At both Fiesta Henderson and Fiesta Rancho, the top 100 point-earners in the first 14 days of each month (January through March), along with another 10 chosen by electronic drawing, will have their names posted at the Amigo Club on the 15th by noon. Winners then will have 24 hours to choose between collecting a $25 gas card or $35 of expires-in-one-week free play. From the 15th to the end of the month, the casino will do the same and post winners on the first day of the following month.

Poker is back at Caesars Palace. The casino has opened a $12 million, 30-table room next to the race and sports book, and an expansion is already being considered.
