A woman was found slain in her home in the 1100 block of Norman Avenue, near Maryland Parkway and Charleston Avenue, on Wednesday night, according to Las Vegas police.
The woman, whose identity wasn't available, had been in her house for at least two days before she was discovered, said Lt. Lew Roberts of the department's homicide unit.
The woman's son went to check on her Wednesday and discovered her in a hallway inside the house. The woman's vehicle was missing, Roberts said.
He said there was a substantial amount of blood inside the home.
Police had not arrested any suspects in the killing as of Thursday night.

HEARING MASTERS
Juvenile justice cases to occur outside LV
Residents in rural Clark County will be getting access to local hearing masters for rural juvenile justice cases over the next few months.
"By working to appoint judicial officers in communities such as Searchlight, Laughlin, Moapa, Mesquite or Overton, we can handle those cases locally and provide better service to the entire judicial district," Juvenile Judge William Voy said in a news release.
Currently, residents in outlying towns have to commute to Las Vegas for juvenile justice cases.
Under a working plan to be put in place by late 2006, the court would appoint attorneys from rural towns to serve their communities, officials said.
HENDERSON BLAZE
Authorities investigate auto repair shop fire
Authorities are investigating a fire that caused about $150,000 in damage Wednesday to an auto repair shop in Henderson.
Henderson Fire Department units responded around 1 p.m. to a report of a structure fire at John's Auto Center, which sits at the corner of Boulder Highway and Greenway Road.
When firefighters arrived, the garage was engulfed in flames, but the fire had not reached the attached business. The owner had attempted to extinguish the blaze on his own before firefighters arrived.
The fire was under control in about 10 minutes, but crews remained at the scene to cool down acetylene tanks used in the business. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Henderson building officials deemed the structure uninhabitable because of the damage.
