Pete Rose is looking for a pinch hitter today.

Anyone interested in co-hosting with Rose can bid for the hour by showing up at the balcony overlooking the Palms pool with cash, check or money order. The winning bid for Rose's first hour was $515. The second hour opened when a bidder didn't follow through.

The 24-hour broadcast benefits The Caring Place, a cancer care facility founded by former ESPN 920 sports-talk host Al Bernstein and his wife, Connie, both cancer survivors.

SLAPPY'S HOME FOR SALE

The home of late comedian Slappy White is for sale.

Owner Scott Hove says the 1970s house, at 4811 Community Lane, near Tropicana and Sandhill, still has White's "SW" initials on the chimney.

White teamed up with Steve Rossi as a comedy act for a few years before playing Melvin in the TV series "Sanford and Son," starring Redd Foxx.

One of White's most memorable lines: "The trouble with unemployment is that the minute you wake up in the morning, you're on the job."

The house can be viewed at www.ImportantHome.com or www.LasVegasCelebrityHome.com.
