Comedy icon Jerry Lewis is recovering from a mild heart attack, his publicist said Tuesday.
Lewis, 80, who announced last week that he was taking a musical version of "The Nutty Professor" to Broadway in 2007, postponed his July 13-16 engagement at The Orleans.

Lewis is always fighting "a touch" of pneumonia, but "doctors are very pleased with the great progress he has made in the past two days," said his spokeswoman, Candi Cazau, public relations director at The Orleans.
She said Lewis is in a San Diego hospital "and is expected to make a full recovery." He fell ill on Sunday en route from New York to San Diego.
TAKING ISSUE
Golden Rainbow executives sent an e-mail addressing the absence of Siegfried & Roy at Sunday's 20th "Ribbon of Life" fundraiser.
The e-mail, from Golden Rainbow president Carol Hunter and executive director Eric Fleming, took issue with my Monday item that raised questions about the illusionists' absence.
"While we were disappointed that our biggest fans Siegfried and Roy could not attend... we fully understand the nature of their many commitments," said the e-mail.
"Any sentiment that their inability to be at the show 'raised eyebrows' would be incorrect. We knew they would do what ever possible to be in our midst, but unfortunately it was just not feasible," according to the e-mail.
Siegfried & Roy, the fundraiser's biggest backers through the years, were to receive a lifetime award. They were "triple-booked," said an event publicist and "out of state," according to the duo's spokesman.
