WINE OF THE WEEK:
Oakley Five Reds perfect choice for July Fourth festivities
You may remember the Cline Red Truck wine that was reviewed here in February. That delicious red wine was a great value for less than $10. From the same company and at a special price, you can drink the Oakley Five Reds for less than $6.
The mastermind behind this exciting bottling is Fred Cline, who is the grandson of the inventor of the Jacuzzi. Fred's grandfather taught him how to love wine, and now Fred makes great wines for people to love. It's a great and simple, yet typically Californian success story.

In the glass, this Oakley Five Reds wine is a deep, semi-opaque crimson-red color with a dark ruby red core going out into a fine light pinkish-red rim definition with high viscosity.
On the nose, the wine is a deep, dark juicy fruit bomb with crushed peppery black currants, spicy blackberries, a medley of red fruits with black plums, Morello cherry sauce, huckleberries, and licorice and earth-driven minerals underneath.
In the mouth, the wine is a huge palate pleaser with concentrated juicy black plums, cherries, blackberry preserve, loganberry fruit and again that spicy, peppery and licorice-tinged undernote. The midpalate is balanced despite the big fruit and tannins, and the whole wine is in nice harmony and finishes with a great "bite" and lovely length on the after-mouth.
This wine is ready to drink straight out of the bottle, and should go well with Fourth of July barbecue meats and fireworks. Grab this by the caseload.
