The revival of the Helldorado Days Parade will continue for at least one more year and could regain its stature as an annual event.
The Las Vegas City Council on Wednesday approved spending $65,000 for the parade, which will be held Saturday, May 13.

It was brought back as a one-time event for the city's centennial celebration last year. There were an estimated 80,000 spectators for the once well-known event, which returned after a six-year hiatus.
Later this year, the Centennial Committee may be asked to pay for the parade costs, but planners couldn't wait that long to start preparing for the parade, said Deputy City Manager Betsy Fretwell.
Parades in future years would be paid for by the Centennial Committee, if it decides to do so, she said.
