The Latin Chamber of Commerce granted 126 scholarships to Clark County School District students at its annual scholarship luncheon April 21.
Roxanna Vera and Eduardo Gutierrez were each awarded the Sgt. Henry Prendes Memorial Scholarship of $1,500. Josue Bustillos received $1,000 for the Polly Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship. Austin Arseo, Alexander Campos, Gabriela Ruiz, Alba Melendez and Carmen Romero were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship. And, Jennifer Mehner, Lori Pacheco, Shalimar Serrano, Stephanie Lopez, Esmeralda Veloz and Roxana Sanchez received $2,500 scholarships.

All of the scholarships awarded will be for students continuing their education at the Community College of Southern Nevada, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada State College or the University of Nevada, Reno.
In other youth news:
* Moapa Valley High School finished fifth in the nation in the management portion of the National ProStart Student Invitational conducted April 30 to May 2 in Charlotte, N.C. Students Kirk Bullock, Tonya Chidester, Jennifer Jack, Kylea McMurray and alternate Kayla Culler were tested on their knowledge of the restaurant and food service industry. The competition, presented by the National Restaurant Association and state restaurant associations, included 34 teams from across the country.
* The following Palo Verde High School students have been selected to the 2006-'07 editorial board for the school's Panther Print newspaper: Katey Wilhem, advertising and finance editor; Candace Holifield, sports editor; Blakely Cotton, news and clubs editor; Lukas Eggen, entertainment editor; Lacey Weeks, photography editor; Miqi Cos, copy editor; Melanie Eugenio-Badua, layout and design editor; Maggie Thomas, managing editor; and Ashley Mitchell, editor in chief.
* The White Middle School Choir will perform John Leavitt's "Requiem" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson. The concert is free.
* The Brown Junior High School Orchestra and the Basic High School intermediate and advanced orchestras will perform their spring concert at 7 p.m. May 24 in the Basic High School Theatre, 400 N. Palo Verde Drive, Henderson. Admission is free. For more information call 799-8000, ext. 4040.
