CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court on Tuesday completed a canvass of the results of the Nov. 7 election, a step that immediately increased the state's minimum wage by $1 per hour to a new rate of $6.15 per hour.
Justices found no mistakes in the results compiled by the secretary of state's office.

Question 6, the ballot proposal to raise the minimum wage, passed by a vote of 68.7 percent for, 31.3 percent against.
The 395,367 affirmative votes gathered by the proposal was more than any issue before voters during the general election.
In certifying the election results, the court also set in place the 10-day countdown before smoking will be outlawed in most bars, restaurants and public places, including in the gaming areas of convenience stores and supermarkets. The smoking prohibition, Question 5, was approved by 53.9 percent of voters.
Under its provision, the ban on smoking begins on Dec. 8, or 10 days after the state Supreme Court canvasses results of the election.
During the canvass, Secretary of State Dean Heller said there were no problems in using Sequoia touch-screen electronic voting machines across the state.
