Despite all the hoopla from left-wing Democrats following his primary victory in August, Connecticut Senate hopeful Ned Lamont remains a longshot.
The Associated Press reports that a Quinnipiac University poll shows Mr. Lamont still trailing Joe Lieberman -- who lost the Democratic primary but is now running as an independent -- by 10 percentage points. That means he's barely made inroads over the past few weeks -- he was trailing by 12 points early last month.

"Ned Lamont has lost momentum," poll director Douglas Schwartz told the AP. "He's gained only two points in six weeks. He's going to have to do something different in the next six weeks or ... (Mr.) Lieberman stays in for another six years."
All of which would be an embarrassment to many Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. They abandoned their 2000 vice presidential candidate because he refused to mimic their anti-Bush, anti-war rhetoric, but are now finding that Mr. Lieberman's position actually resonates with those who aren't regular listeners of Air America.
