NORM: Playboy elevator has its downside

Ben Stiller and wife Christine Taylor, above, and Sarah McLachlan, below, were among celebrities at Andre Agassi's Grand Slam for Children.

Joe Maloof, co-owner of the Sacramento Kings and the Palms, found himself in Playboy purgatory during opening night of the Playboy Club at the Palms.

Maloof was stuck in an elevator for almost an hour late Friday outside The Playboy Club when the door wouldn't open.

"Just my luck it was an elevator full of men, not 'The Girls Next Door,' " Maloof said, referring to Hugh Hefner's posse of blondes, who attended the big night.

Soaring heat left the well-dressed occupants soaked with sweat by the time the door was unjammed about 11 p.m., Maloof said.

Asked how many were in the elevator, Maloof replied, "Too many."

THE SCENE AND HEARD

A Palms high roller was touring The Playboy Club recently when he experienced one of those oh-no moments. As he was being shown the men's room, which features dozens of Playboy centerfolds under a clear plastic surface, he saw a familiar face -- his bride-to-be, wearing only a deep tan. They were married Saturday.
