THE R-J GOES TO A PARTY: Lavish Valentine gifts on display at The 3 Jewels

One Queensridge Place was joined by Saks Fifth Avenue and Fletcher Jones Imports Mercedes Benz in hosting The 3 Jewels on Feb. 8.

The occasion gave invited guests a preview of the exclusive residential towers One Queensridge Place and other premier Valentine's Day gifts.

The event was held at the One Queensridge Place Sales and Design Studio in the Hualapai shopping plaza on West Charleston Boulevard.

Guests including Sandy Mallin, Eleonore and Edward Doumani, Bryan O'Reilly, Peggy Brown, Barbara Pike, and Angie Wallin walked the red carpet through beautiful imported cars up to the entrance where a smashing Mercedes Benz Maybach was parked amid tall floral bouquets of red roses.

The electric string quartet Phat Strad played romantic music.

Inside, Frank Pankratz, president of Executive Home Builders greeted the crowd and proudly showed off a model of the two 18-story condominiums under construction in Summerlin. Also inside was a custom unit toured by the party guests, which included Thalia Dondero, Zoe Brown, Diane and Patrick Clary, Rebecca Boman, Monica Fuller and Florence and Vince Shapiro.

Unique and lavish Valentine gifts included Saks Fifth Avenue's jewelry and beautiful clothes, which were modeled for guest.

The party's decor included 1,000 roses, a floral arrangement of orchids by Botanica and a Buddha crowned with 2,500 topaz-colored Swarovski crystals.

Appetizers were prepared by Hannah's restaurant, desserts were by Joe LaVigna and Dalton Wilson, and Lee's Liquors served Mango Mai Tais, Metropolitans and the Ultimate Margarita.

Among the raffle winners of elaborate gourmet baskets was Persia Golden.

Vincent Falcone entertained at the Bosendorfer piano and vocals were sung by Jessica Marciel.

Seen enjoying the event were Clara West, Michael Wronski, John Foley, Sandra Litton, Toni Verducci, Elaine McNamara, Joan and Darrel Brownell and Christina and Morton Davis.

HEAVEN CAN WAIT ... The Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary for dogs and cats held its fifth annual Jewelry, Wine & Gift Luncheon on Feb. 3 at the Stirling Club.

It was an afternoon of dining, shopping and socializing.

Clint Holmes was honored as the sanctuary's "Angel to the Animals," and he entertained the crowd with an original song.

This year, shopping opportunities were increased by inviting more vendors to participate including jewelry designer Nicky Buller who donated lovely jewelry.

KVBC-TV, Channel 3, weatherman John Fredericks conducted a live auction, which included a trip to Arizona for cart racing, an autographed football, four tickets for the Celine Dion show, a Stardust painting and five tickets for "Menopause" at the Las Vegas Hilton.

The event raised more than $20,000 which will be used to fund many community programs including spaying and neutering animals and a program called "Tales to Tail," a children's literacy program, allowing children who are challenged in their reading skills to practice by reading to specially trained dogs.

The program has proven to help the child's reading and vocabulary scores.

CHOCOLATE AFFAIR ... Radio station KSNE-FM 106.5 presented its third annual Chocolate Affair Feb. 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the South Point ballroom.

Greeting guests at the door were Melanie and Michael Neal from the station's morning show.

A silent auction with tickets to the Rod Stewart Show, restaurant dinners and vacations attracted bidders, and all the auction proceeds benefitted the American Heart Association.

Hundreds of people attended the event that featured exquisite chocolate displays and samplings of Las Vegas' best in chocolate. They feasted on decadent desserts, chocolate fondue fountains, cakes, cookies, chocolate martinis, gelatos, chocolate liqueurs, chocolate potato chips and pretzels and hot cocoa.

Guests could even have their personal photographs tansferred to a chocolate wafer.

Masters of ceremonies were KSNE on-air staff Tom Chase and John Berry, and there was musical entertainment.
