PLAYER'S EDGE: Eat while you play at El Cortez

Beginning Thursday, the El Cortez will become what is believed to be the first Las Vegas casino to offer an extensive food-while-you-play menu to all slot and table players. According to casino management, the menu includes hamburgers, baby back ribs, chicken fingers and quesadillas and will be priced cheaper than the casino's coffee shop. During March, all El Cortez players hitting a $200-plus jackpot on slots or $300-plus on video poker can receive a prize ticket which can be redeemed for a logo towel, a gas or grocery gift card; every two tickets can be redeemed for a logo bathrobe.

Through March 25, all new Total Reward sign-ups at any Harrah's property in Las Vegas (Bally's, Caesars Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas or Rio) receive a free camera that could have up to $1,000 hidden inside. New members signing up at the Flamingo also receive a "Think Pink" bracelet.

The poker room at Fitzgeralds is hosting a daily drawing at 11 p.m. to win complimentary rooms, buffets and "Fitz Poker Gear." On the last day of every month, the casino will give away a cruise to Mexico. Poker players win entries for every hour they play and receive double entries between midnight and noon.

Every Saturday in March, the Fiesta Henderson will draw 10 names, two of which will win $1,000 to $10,000. Beginning Monday, Amigo Club members will receive one entry for every 250 points ($250-$500 coin-in) or equivalent table play. Drawings take place at 8:15 p.m., and you must be present to win.

Texas Station has extended its Tuesday/Thursday buffet point specials through March. Players earning 100 Boarding Pass points ($100-$200 coin-in; no point redemption required) in one day will receive a breakfast buffet from 8-10:30 a.m.; those earning 200 points will receive a lunch buffet from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; and players earning 300 points will receive a dinner buffet from 4-10 p.m. Points must be earned between midnight and 9:30 p.m., and there is a limit of one free meal per Boarding Pass account per day.
