Police recommend charges in clothing store thefts case

REVIEW-JOURNAL

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has recommended "numerous charges" to the Clark County District Attorney's office against eight individuals with ties to UNLV athletics who were allegedly involved in the theft of more than $3,400 in merchandise from a Strip clothing store.

Only UNLV football player Channing Trotter was mentioned in a police department news release. Previously, a police source said football players Ryan Wolfe, KC Asiodu and Marques Johnson, former football player Chris Hollermeier, track athletes Lekeisha Lawson and Ernestine Johnson and cheerleader Rachel Ludwig also were expected to be charged.

The six current athletes are under suspension.

Trotter, who was a clerk at Abercrombie & Fitch in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, told police he provided steep discounts on merchandise about 10 times.

Now the district attorney will decide whether to follow police recommendations on charges.
