Food and Films Series opens
at Winchester Cultural Center
Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, will present its second Food and Films Series beginning March 8 and continuing through April.
Movies begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $3 and include appetizers served prior to the film.

The first film, "Bella Martha" ("Mostly Martha") from 2001, will be shown on March 8 and follows German chef Martha Klein, whose stubborn life is altered when her sister dies, leaving an 8-year-old daughter behind. The film has subtitles.
"What's Cooking?" will be screened March 15, and stars Mercedes Ruehl in a story about how four different ethnic families celebrate Thanksgiving.
"Yin Shi Nan Nu" ("Eat Drink Man Woman") is a 1994 film by writer/director Ang Lee that will be shown March 22. Senior master chef Chu lives with his three unmarried daughters in a large house in Taipei. The story revolves around elaborate Sunday dinners and the love lives of the family members. This film has subtitles.
"The Scent of Green Papaya," a 1993 Anh Hung Tran film, is set for March 29. The movie centers on a young girl's life, growing up as a servant. The film has subtitles.
"Tortilla Soup," the 2001 film starring Hector Elizondo, Paul Rodriguez and Raquel Welch, to air April 5, tells the tale of a retired Mexican-American chef who shares his home with his three single daughters. Though he has lost his ability to taste, the chef loves to cook and create lavish dinners for his family.
"A Feast At Midnight" is the "Dead Poet's Society" for food lovers and will be shown on April 19. The 1995 film, starring Christopher Lee, focuses on a new student at a British public school who forms a secret society based on the love of food.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Sean Patrick Flanery star in the 1999 whimsical romantic comedy "Simply Irresistible" on April 29.
