The creative idea of having multiple major stakes races on the same card is a good one. Santa Anita marketing director Allen Gutterman may have conceived the concept more than two decades ago. Gutterman bundled many 2-year-old harness stakes on the same night while at the Meadowlands, which was promoted as "Million Dollar Babies."
