One day after UNLV's 74-68 second round win over second-seeded Wisconsin in the NCAA tournament at Chicago, Allison went into labor at St. Rose Siena Hospital on Monday.
When UNLV fan John Pucci asked Mike Shepherd whether he planned to name the baby Chicago or St. Louis, the Rebels' next stop, Shepherd shot back, "Atlanta, baby!"
Atlanta is the site of this year's Final Four, where a national champion will be crowned. As of late Monday, there still was no word on the addition to the Shepherd family.

A real estate Web site reported Monday that Elad Properties, an Israeli-owned real estate investment group, is about to announce that it is purchasing the New Frontier. Sources told theslatinreport.com that the purchase price could be as high as $40 million per acre, or $1.5 billion for the 38.5-acre site. Elad Properties is the group renovating the Landmark Hotel in New York. ...

Eric Klein has returned to Wolfgang Puck's restaurant group as executive chef at Spago. The move allows David Robins to "focus more on his role as Managing Partner/Corporate Chef-Las Vegas & Operations," according to a release by Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group. Klein, who moved into the role last week, opened SW Steakhouse at Wynn Las Vegas two years ago and has been working at Fix Restaurant at Bellagio. ...

Restaurant Guy Savoy has been nominated for the best new restaurant award by the James Beard Foundation. Two other Las Vegas star chefs, Joel Robuchon and Wolfgang Puck, are among the nominees; Robuchon for his L'Atelier restaurant in New York and Puck for Cut, his Los Angeles steakhouse and ultra lounge. Other nominees: A Voce (New York), Cochon (New Orleans), and Momofuku Ssäm Bar (New York).
