Friday and Saturday, Cedar City, Utah: Southern Utah University Pow-Wow. This event, in its 30th year, will feature American Indian arts, crafts and food. Sponsored by the SUU Native American Student Association. (435) 586-7772, www.scenicsouthernutah.com.

April 1, 2 and 5, Flagstaff, Ariz.: Spring Break Star Fest. This evening program will feature Saturn and includes indoor programs and numerous telescopes set up for viewing throughout the Lowell Observatory campus. (928) 774-3358, www.lowell.edu.

April 6, Cedar City, Utah: Thunderbird Film Festival. This independent filmmaking competition featuring family-friendly films by students and professionals. April 6-7, Lytle Preserve, Utah: Join a geologist, botanist and birder during peak spring migratory bird season at the preserve. This two-day workshop will include camping at the site. April 6-8, Brian Head, Utah: Brian Head Spring Carnival and Easter Celebration. This annual event features pond skimming, rail jam, face painting, Easter egg hunt. (435) 677-2035, www.brianhead.com.

April 7, Cathedral Gorge State Park: The Bunny Trail. Kids of all ages are invited to join a park ranger and look for signs of spring (and that elusive rabbit) on this easy nature walk. (775) 728-4460, www.parks.nv.gov.

April 14, Cathedral Gorge State Park: Adventure hike. Join a ranger and visit an area seldom visited by the "average" tourist. Expect to hike about four miles on a moderately strenuous trail. (775) 728-4460, www.parks.nv.gov.

April 14, Zion National Park, Utah: Geology of Zion. This workshop will focus on the continual geologic processes in the park. April 21, Cathedral Gorge State Park: Geology Walk. Join a park ranger for an evening walk and learn how the unusual terrain was formed, a process still going on today. (775) 728-4460, www.parks.nv.gov.

April 21, Cedar City, Utah: M.A.S.H. Bash 2007. Teams of five decorate and race a hospital bed to win the Traveling Bed Pan award. A benefit to raise money for nursing scholarships at Southern Utah University. (435) 586-7719, www.senicsouthernutah.com.

April 21, Walker Lake: Walker Lake Loon Festival. Take a free boat or barge ride on the lake to view some of the roughly 1,200 loons who pass through here on their migration north. (775) 945-5896, www.mineralcountychamber.com.

April 25-29, Laughlin: Laughlin River Run. More than 50,000 bikers descend on this Colorado River casino town for entertainment, poker runs, competitions and to visit the thousands of vendors set up throughout the area. (800) 357-8223, www.laughlinriverrun.com.

April 26-28, Reno: Reno Jazz Festival. In its 45th year, features more than 300 performances and clinics with 40 jazz artists from around the nation and close to 300 students from around the West. (775) 784-4046, www.visitreno.com.

April 27-29, Ivins, Utah: Cactus Hugger Cycling Festival. Three days of road cycling events including a Century, 42- and 65-mile distance rides, a ride to Zion National Park, children's safety events and health expo. (435) 229-1404, www.cactushugger.org.

April 28, Cathedral Gorge State Park: Moonlight Hike: Join a ranger for an evening stroll through the canyons, spires and cavelike formations. Bring a jacket and a flashlight. (775) 728-4460, www.parks.nv.gov.
